Things to do in Nottingham at Christmas!

Hello everyone, I hope you’re doing okay! What have you been up to today? I’ve just been doing lots of college work and organising this for the rest of blogmas. I hope you’ve been enjoying it so far. For today’s post, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite things to do in Nottingham over Christmas. It always feels more like Christmas whenever the Winter Wonderland is open in Nottingham. I am so thrilled that they have decided to open it up again this year. I really thought it wouldn’t be going ahead this year. As it is a big part of Christmas for me, I thought today would be great to do a post about all my favourite thing’s to do in Nottingham for the lead up to Christmas. I hope you enjoy it.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without all of the lights. And this is one thing I love- the official light switch on. The time where Nottingham opens up the Winter Wonderland for everyone to enjoy. I love watching the lights come on. Especially when the cast of the panto come along to it, It is one of the greatest things and a great way to get into the Christmas spirit! It feels like such a magical feeling as you watch the lights which angle all around finally come to life. It lights up the city welcoming Christmas and the New Year to us all.

From this, we have to mention the main part of Christmas in Nottingham- the Winter Wonderland. I love seeing them set up this every year. The countdown to Christmas really begins when the work begins to create one of the biggest things ever! There are so many stalls for you to get yummy treats or little gifts for your loved ones. And we can’t forget the ice rink and all the rides for everyone to have fun on. I always such a great time at Nottingham’s Winter Wonderland. It has recently been announced that the Winter Wonderland will be still going ahead this year. I was so happy when I found out the news. I can’t wait for it to be open. The Winter Wonderland will be open in Nottingham from the 5th of December until the 24th. I know I am counting down the days now!

Like I already mentioned with it being a part of the Winter Wonderland, the ice rink is an iconic piece in Nottingham. It is a huge hit! So many people spend hours skating on the ice. Now, I’m not a massive fan of ice skating (more for the fact that I really can’t do it and always hurt myself from falling over) but I do love watching people skate around having fun. They seem so talented  with the spins and tricks they do! It definitely is something to do around Christmas.

I always love getting presents and surprising my friends and family with them. It is one thing I love about Christmas! I always try a month or so before December to plan what I am getting everyone so I can be prepared for Christmas. I already have a long list of ideas to treat my loved ones to this year. I really want to make Christmas the best for them this year as they all deserve it! one of my favourite things to do is go Christmas shopping. Every year I go Christmas shopping with my Mum, my Grandma and my little brother Oscar. We spend the full day in Nottingham going around all the shops and coming back with bags of presents and treats for everyone. Plus, we always go somewhere lovely for dinner to give us a break from all the shopping we do. Spending time with them is one thing that I so important to me as they really are my world.

Finally, this thing has been a yearly thing of ours since I was a baby. And that is going to see the Christmas panto! Every year I go to the pantomime with my Mum, Oscar, my Grandma and Grandad. We always book to come to watch it in Nottingham’s Theatre Royal. We go out for dinner then go and watch the panto. We always come out really happy and laughing at what we had just watched. It’s always great fun to do and it’s a memory that keeps growing every year. I love spending time with them!

And they are all my favourite things to do it Nottingham around Christmas! I really hope you enjoyed reading today’s post. What kind of things do you do in the run up to Christmas? This year is definitely going to be a different one, but as long as everyone is happy and healthy, that is the main thing. If there are any kinds of posts you would like to read in the future, please let me know in the comments below. You can also follow me on Instagram and Twitter for more updates throughout the week.

Ohh heyyy again!👋 How are you?! Love seeing what you do around Christmas, seems like you have a few traditions you do every year which i love! ✨ We aren’t celebrating this year as we have a lot going on and don’t have time or funds really. We normally have a day shopping though and have a wee lunch with mum. The past few years I’ve done photo shoots for family and out Christians day tradition is seeing the kids- waking them up at like 6am and telling them “Santa has been” 💖 Loved Reading as always!! Proud of youuu
